I put my money of the people who actually learn useful shit and get by with whatever means available. Once they would be aware of magic, that shit would get integrated quickly as possible into their methodology and suddenly we'd see magic guns, magic cars, magic fusion reactors and whatnot. Muggles don't have magic to help them, instead they have overcome all the hardships using pure ingenuity and technology to fix issues and solve problems.
